The Nokia E71, rival to the BlackBerry series phones is available from Telecom 3. The near fully functional handset comes equipped with QWERTY keypad and push e-mail systems which are all displayed on a 240 x 320 pixel screen of 2.36 inches.. Nokia have improved their user-friendliness and power to their “E” brand of phones also which comes to compete against the BlackBerry phones whom have been the sole solution to business/corporate users in the past. The E71 uses some extra one-touch keys for the primary uses of the handset (Calender/Contacts/E-Mail). Navi Key works just like the mouse pad section on a laptop to provide accelerated scrolling up and down on the screen when browsing through the internet/e-mails/messages which is Nokia’s solution over the BlackBerry Bolds trackball.

Messaging on the E71 is very well adept. The device supports IMAP, POP and SMTP e-mail protocols as well as Nokia Intellisync Wireless E-mail. Attachments are supported and the QuickOffice GPP also to allow the user to view and/or edit word processing documents/spreadsheets/power point presentation. The E71 comes fully equipped for security, with a keypad lock, remote lock and encryption for data stored in memory or on the memory card. Full support for Virtual Private Networks is provided.

Music player capable of playing all common formats and has a FM radio inbuilt.

Like many smartphones, the E71includes Assisted GPS satellite navigation, with the Nokia Maps application pre-installed. The built-in browser can handle XHTML, Javascript, stylesheets and Flash, so is able to display most websites correctly. For connectivity, this handset supports bluetooth 2.0 (with Enhanced Data Rate), micro USB, WLAN and even Infrared. The WLAN connection can be used to make VoIP calls. A 2.5mm Nokia headphone socket is provided, so you can plug in a compatible headset, but it would have been nice to have a universal 3.5mm jack, like the BlackBerry Bold has. Everything you need to organise yourself, communicate on the go, send/recieve data is on this handset.

Supplied with a huge 1gb of internel memory, the Nokia 6500 Classic, with it’s lovely looks, comes with 3G support, a standard 2 megapixel camera, competent music player, a video camera and good connectivity via Bluetooth and miniUSB to easily transfer your music from PC to phone or alternatively, due to it’s 3G connection, is able to share it’s media easily. As you could probably tell, this phone doesn’t really have any outstanding features available to it compared to the phones available nowadays, however, it does everything you would expect from a standard mobile phone very well and with a very delightful appearance.

    Here comes the Nokia N95!

    June 18th, 2008

One of the most advanced Nokia N-Series products that have been available here at Telecom 3, is the Nokia N95. The N95 released back in 2007 March has been a very popular product that has caused a lot of hype among the majority due to it’s impressive multimedia features.

The N95 is a 3G smartphone in a slide form factor which goes in two directions (one for your video/music controls and the other for your keypad) that is no taller than your typical candy bar phone, however, is slightly more chunky in size. The screen is 2.6 inches which is pretty big in mobile phone terms, 16 million colours, ambient light detector to adjust the screens brightness for whatever your surrounding conditions are, you’ll see what’s happening on your screen.

The camera on the phone is one of the most impressive feats. It’s the first phone to hit the 5 megapixel mark which is identical to many digital cameras that come with Carl-Zeiss optics and Tessar lenses to create sharper images with auto-focus, flash and lens capabilities. It can also record 30 frame rates of video at VGA resolution of 640×480 with stereo audio. There’s a second camera located at the front which is used for making video calls.

Another one of the N95’s amazing features is the GPS (Global Positioning System). No need for the standalone device anymore, communicating with satalites to pin-point your position on the map, whether you’re travelling on foot or in car, never get lost again.

For your multimedia uses, the N95 plays a majority of the common music and video formats, includes a stereo FM radio, integrated handsfree speaker, speaker independent voice dialling, fast G3 data transfer for internet/e-mail access. In terms of connectivity, the versitility is tremendous, supporting USB 2.0, Infrared, Bluetooth, WiFi, TV-Out and Mic-Out. The firmware that comes with the N95 a very robust so it’s a very reliable phone alltogether and will appeal to anyone and can even be addictive to use due to it’s massive amount of capabilities which can be further expanded due to internet connection for updated software/games and memory can be upgraded to fill your phone with even more media.
